EDUCATE.

DO NOT INDOCTRINATE.

Taking a Stand for the Future of ALL Westwood Children

ONE WESTWOOD aims to be a positive voice and force in our town.

We are a group of parents and residents of Westwood, MA, calling for a non-political, non-ideological school district that resurrects the excellence Westwood schools have historically been known for.

Our group respects all the residents of our town, and represents different races, genders, religions, political parties and beliefs. While our nation has been divided along ideological lines, we strive to focus on what unifies us, which is our humanity and the desire to elevate our public schools in Westwood.

We come from all corners of town, with children in kindergarten through high school. We love Westwood, its families and especially all of our children. ONE WESTWOOD organically formed in 2020 as many of us noticed the significant changes in the priorities of our Westwood schools in all grades.

One Westwood aims to be a positive force in our town. In the face of the radical new priorities our schools are pushing and the hostile environment that has ensued, we do not feel animosity towards the administrators, school committee members, and parent activists who ushered in these changes. While we believe they are misguided and their initiatives are destructive, we think they're well-intentioned. We will continue to love our neighbors as ourselves, regardless of color, religion, special learning needs, or sexual preference, and remain open to healthy dialogue. We love our kids as they love theirs. We hope for a bright future in Westwood.

We are ONE WESTWOOD.

Our Goals

  • Equality Over Equity

One Westwood values equality over equity. We call for a civics curriculum that focuses on the great achievements of western civilization, including the great American experiment.

  • End Race Based Teaching

We call for an end to the “race-obsessed” agenda being taught to our students at all grade levels. Our sentiments are echoed in the immortal words of Dr. Martin Luther King, “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

  • Stop Sexual Talks in the Elementary School

We call for an end to classroom discussions and curriculum supporting transgender ideology at all grade levels and an end to discussions of human sexuality at the elementary school level. These topics should be discussed in the home, around our own personal values.

  • Diversity of Thought

We welcome all types of people in our community and our schools AND we welcome a diversity of thinking as well. We are open to disagreement and encourage the exchange of ideas.

  • A Return to Parent Involvement in School

Over the past two years parents have been shut out of the school system. As tax payers we want more transparency and more parent involvement in our school system.

  • No Political Indoctrination

It’s become apparent that our teachers have political bias that they are pushing on our children. We ask that our teachers focus on academic excellence and leave politics out of the classroom.

“I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
